Easy DIY craft: Cupcake Liner Butterflies

Make pretty butterflies with colorful cupcake liners, pipe cleaners and some fun stuff lying around your home. Below are the steps courtesy of firstpalette.com.

Materials required are: Cupcake liners, Pipe cleaners, White glue, Wiggle eyes (optional), Buttons and beads (optional)

Carefully spread open and flatten each cupcake liner. Fold up ½ inch or 1¼ cm from the bottom edge of the cupcake liner. This first fold defines the size of the succeeding folds. Flip the cupcake liner over. Fold up ½ inch or 1¼ cm again from the bottom. The edges of the second fold should line up nicely with the first. Continue until you’ve folded the entire cupcake liner.

Similarly fold the second cupcake liner. Fold each cupcake liner in half so that you create a middle crease. Apply glue on the middle crease of one cupcake liner. Put the two cupcake liners together, aligning them at the middle crease and at the edges.

You will need a pipe cleaner to hold the wings together and make the butterfly’s antennae as well. Fold the pipe cleaner in half. Twist the ends of the pipe cleaner around the cupcake liners’ middle crease.

Carefully open the cupcake liner folds on one side of the pipe cleaner. Repeat on the opposite side to complete the butterfly’s two pairs of wings.

Create the antennae. Decorate butterfly by gluing a button, a foam shape or a plastic gem at the center of the butterfly.

Easy DIY Craft: Toilet Paper Roll Butterfly

Supplies required are: Toilet paper roll, Small googly eyes, Colored buttons, Cardstockpink, purple, yellow or any color you want your wings to be, Acrylic paint, Pipe Cleaner, Small pom poms, and Black sharpie.

To make the antennae, bend the pipe cleaner into the shape of a “V”. Curl the tips of the “V” down. Glue two small pom-poms to the tips.

Glue the antennae to the inside top of the paper roll. Glue the googly eyes near the top of the paper roll and draw a mouth with the black marker.

Finally, glue the wings to the back of the paper roll.

Easy DIY craft: Newspaper Butterflies

Check out this creative newspaper craft if you have some free time to spare and want to spark your creative juices. You can make these butterflies easily with your favorite colors and the following steps courtesy of iheartartsncrafts.com

Supplies needed are Newspaper, Acrylic or Watercolor Paint, Scissors and Pipe Cleaner

Start by painting our newspaper with some acrylic paint. Of course the next step is cutting your newspaper or you can always cut before you paint. After you’ve painted then set it aside to dry. Watercolors would work for this craft too, it just depends on what kind of look you’d like. The watercolor dries more see-through than the acrylic paint.

Next fold your newspaper in half and then cut, then continue to do this until you get 8 small squares. Then start folding a corner accordion style, continue to do this for every square piece you’ve cut out.

Finally, you’ll need two folded squares for our butterflies. One for the top set of wings, and the other for the bottom set of wings. Simply pinch the middle of the squares together and twist your pipe cleaner around it to create body of your butterfly. Then you’re finished! These would look so cute displayed as a garland for Spring!

Easy DIY craft: Pipe Cleaner Butterfly Rings

Pipe cleaner butterfly rings are so pretty and they’re really easy to make. Given below are the steps courtesy of onelittleproject.com

Materials needed are: Pipe Cleaner x 3 (choose 3 different colours if possible)

Loop all 3 pipe cleaners around one of your fingers (or your child’s) to get their ring size. Twist all 3 pipe cleaners to make a ring

Keep the strands out to look like cats whiskers.

Choose which two colours will be the butterfly wings. Roll each end inward to form each wing.

Once the wings are formed, position the wings to create the shape of a butterfly. Roll the two remaining pipe cleaners to be the antennas.

Once your butterfly is complete, bend the butterfly/ring part at 90 degrees so the butterfly sits against your finger when worn. Your butterfly ring is ready in simple steps!
